AKVIS Magnifier is a photo-enhancement tool for Windows and Mac OS X. The application comes in two flavors: standalone and plug-in. The standalone application works independently from other applications and has the complete functionality offered by AKVIS Magnifier. On the other hand, the plug-ins allow certain photo editors to make use of the photo enhancement capabilities of the program.
What AKVIS Magnifier does is provide a suitable environment for you to retouch your pictures so that they can be zoomed in and still look good. Now, it should be noted that this is by no means the military-grade software you see in the movies. This application can somewhat enhance pictures, but you are not going to be able to zoom 20 kilometers into pictures.
The graphical user interface shows two images (once images are loaded into it). The one on the right shows the zoomed area (before and after processing) and the one on the right shows the whole image. If you click the auto-run button, you will be able to observe the changes you make in real time. Tweaking pictures to look better entails some know-how. There are 7 sliders that can be used to enhance pictures. The right combination of those will make for the best result. It is just a matter of finding your way.
